 Dental Implants

Dental implants are a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. Implants are typically made of titanium and artificially replace the root of the tooth. They are surgically placed into the jawbone to support teeth such as crowns and bridges. Some people will refer to a full implant, abutment, and crown as a dental implant, but in reality, the implant is just the portion that is surgically placed into the bone.

Implant Surgery

At your surgical appointment, any needed teeth will be removed and replaced with an implant. Bone grafting might be done to support the implant. You may get a temporary crown if the tooth is visible when smiling. It takes about 3 months for the implant to integrate with the bone before it can handle normal biting.
